CONCEPT
Standard of Premium Full Face Helmet in High Grade and Performance as SHOEI’s Next Generation Touring Helmet totally different from Former RAID Series
WEARING COMFORT
Main components such as a shell and an impact absorbing liner are totally renewed to ensure performances to satisfy all requirements.
・Quietness during ride is prominently pursued to restrain noise which causes fatigue of a rider during especially a long time ride as much as possible. Not depending upon noise blocking by interior pad which may block essential “informative sound” for a safe riding also, a flush surface design restrains occurrence of an uncomfortable wind noise. Elimination of steps between a shell and parts such as ventilation and visor realizes restraint of an uncomfortable noise.
・Increase of shell sizes from former 3 to new 5 realizes ideal fit for all helmet sizes.
・Interiors consist of a 3-D
center pad and a multi layered cheek pad. While a 3-D pad, SHOEI’ standard, is used for a center pad, a multi layered polyurethane foam used already in RF-1100 is adopted for a cheek pad. Combination of polyurethane foams in different softness maintains firm hold minimizing deterioration after use of a long period or repeated washing. Elimination of excessive pressure together with adopting soft touch fabric realizes fitting ideal for a premium helmet.
・Slits for glasses applied to a cheek pad makes wearing with sunglasses easy. And also, an integrated neck pad restrains invasion of a riding wind and a noise from around the neck.
・A cheek pad and a chinstrap cover are removable. Replacing to an optional cheek pad in different thickness realizes fine adjustment of size.
・A space in liner may accommodate an intercom speaker of most manufacturers available in market for a touring rider.
VENTILATION
・A newly designed large upper intake is equipped in ideal position and angle for the most effective performance through analyzing data of experiments in a newly constructed in-house wind tunnel facility.
・A lower air intake is also newly designed appealing its presence. Shutter is larger than a former type so that it is easily handled by a gloved hand in winter.
・Air absorbed from around the mouth is lead through a defroster and minimizes fogging of a visor. An outlet of a defroster is angled so that an air absorbed from a lower air intake may not hit eyes directly.
・A top outlet not applied to RAID II is newly equipped. It exhausts hot and humid air inside a helmet making use of a negative pressure of a riding wind and controls an air stream effectively. Well balanced ventilation performance guarantees real comfort.
・SHOEI’s own dual liner is adopted. An air rout installed between 2 layered impact absorbing liner distributes a fresh air absorbed from an intake largely and exhausts a hot air effectively from an outlet. Its combination with intake and outlet parts realizes “breathing helmet”.
AERODYNAMICS
・A shell shape composed of complex lines is an accent of appearance and was decided through SHOEI’s accumulated data and know-how as well as repeated experiments in in-house wind tunnel facility and riding tests.
・A spoiler shape in rear head restrains DRAG and LIFT by controlling an air stream on a shell surface and ease load to the neck.
PASSIVE SAFETY
・Combination of SHOEI’s own AIM+ shell and dual liner is adopted.
・Strict safety standards in various countries and areas are easily satisfied. A model for Europe satisfies ECE R22/05.

How To Measure Your Head
Your safety is to important to simply guess your size. Before trying on any helmets you need to make sure you know your exact head size.
Measure around your head just above the ears and take a measurement at the forehead. This measurement is a good starting point and will correspond with a particular brand's size (always bear in mind a medium in one brand may be different to medium in another).
Getting the right fit is paramount, so don't be tempted to go for another size if your dream helmet is out of stock.
